Silver Mountain Christmas Trees is family owned and operated by Jim and Shirley Heater. Our home and Christmas Tree farm is located in Sublimity, Oregon, about 60 miles south of Portland near the Silver Falls State Park. The land has been in Jim's family since his ancestors traveled the Oregon Trail in the mid-1800s.
This land is in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. We are blessed to have raised three children here and to have them, and their spouses and children, all continue to work with us here on the farm. Our nine grandchildren represent the seventh generation of the family to grow up on this land.
Over the years, we guess its not too immodest to say that we've learned a lot about growing Christmas trees. Today, we have a conifer nursery where we grow our own seedlings, along with providing seedlings to state reforestation companies and other Christmas tree growers. We've even invented several pieces of large machinery that help in the growing and nurturing of Christmas trees, and we also sell those to other growers.
Today, we grow a little more than 3,500 acres of premium Noble fir, grand fir, fraser fir and douglas fir trees, shipping 300,000
to 350,000 trees a year. We process trees 20 to 24 hours a day on every day but Sunday. Many years ago, we turned our harvest over to the Lord, realizing that if he wanted us to harvest for six days, and to honor him on the Sabbath, it would happen. And it surely does.
Even though we grow a lot of trees, we treat each one as though it is coming into our own home for
Christmas. Each tree is carefully sheared and nurtured for at least 6 to 8 years. They are fertilized, shaped, and trimmed to result in a beautiful, full Christmas tree that we know you'll love. Our trees have very high needle retention, lush color and foliage, and a fragrance you'll cherish throughout the holidays.
It's our way of saying Merry Christmas to our friends throughout the world. Happy Holidays!
